ACHIEVING GOALS (REALISTICALLY)
Updated: Jul 26, 2018
Achieving is something we all aspire to do. But what are the true limitations in the goals we set for ourselves. How can we be more realistic about what we want?
When it comes to listing down goals, I could literally go on forever because there is just so much that I want to achieve during the period of time that is my life. However, turning those words and ideas into a reality isn't quite so easy. Why is that?
Maybe because we are too ambitious and seek unattainable things? Or maybe its because we don't know how to break down our goals into realistic tasks that we can do every single day until the ultimate goal doesn't seem too far anymore.
Think about it for a moment.
Beyonce didn't just wake up with all those Grammys and Serena Williams did not just wake up with the Wimbledon plate in her hands. They worked their asses off for a really long time trying to get better everyday until today. And they are probably working just as hard in this exact moment.
So why not us? Why aren't we achieving my goals like them? It's not like our goals are any harder or more complicated than theirs. Perhaps, we should stop looking at the destination and instead focus on the next step and determine the best way to form a path to our goals.
You need to figure out what step one is, this usually the hardest part because it's not easy to gauge how much you can do before you have started and it's not very easy to push yourself. But if you really want this thing, you have to push you have to work and and don't fear failure because failure is just an opportunity to try again.
Stop comparing yourself.
Everybody's goals are different, but the only thing they have in common is that they are achievable if the person really wants it. I had a teacher who always used to say "If you really want something you will find a way, otherwise you'll find an excuse". At the time I didn't think much of it but now it applies more than ever because its so easy to tell yourself that something isn't working and quit even when you might have been so close to achieving it.
To sum it up big goals aren't going to be easy to achieve! They are going to drain you of your energy and you are going to have to work harder than you've ever worked and dedicate more time into them than anything else. I mean if they were so easy you wouldn't want to achieve them at all.
So stay optimistic, dream big and chase those dreams until they are your reality.
