How to Kill a flower
A process film showing how to kill a flower.
I chose this subject for my midterm assignment in my first animation class, we were told to create portrait films working with both Illustrator and After Effects. The delicate but detailed features of a rose really stood out to me and that's why I chose this style with my illustration.
I made of the illustrations using adobe Illustrator and brought them into After Effects as layered compositions. I also included a crumpled paper background to add a rougher texture to the animation. In terms of technique I played with the opacity and positioning of the objects and text i.e. flowing in and out of the screen.
Special thanks to Tim Szetela.
A portrait film of a visit to the dentists office.
I chose this subject because there is a lot of interesting and slightly traumatic experiences associated with dentists and I had multiple subjects to rotoscope in order to convey the portrait accurately.
This was made with Animate and After Effects, I rotoscoped two videos of my roommate Liz Shi and several pictures sourced from my dentists office as well as on google for the still objects. The texture fill was also sourced off of google. Using masks and the Keylight feature I was able to incorporate the pale wall texture into the animation in After Effects.
Thanks again to Liz Shi for being my actor and Tim Szetela for his guidance!
My Dreams Won't Let Me Forget
I was hired to create an animation for the music curators at Ballistic Sounds. The concept was based on a playlist they created titled 'My Dreams Won't Let Me Forget' and I immediately jumped to the idea of having a woman walking on space in a space suit all. I created the graphics using Illustrator and Procreate. and the animation was completed using AfterEffects. I would like to thank Zoe at Ballistic Sounds for reaching out to me to create this for them!
PS. The whole video will be published by them I just included a snippet for the sake of my portfolio
